Coronavirus Updates

The global pandemic of Coronavirus (COVID-19) has greatly affected the health and well-being of people worldwide, including our patients at Fairfield Surgery.

We strive to keep our patients informed about the latest guidelines regarding COVID-19, such as recognizing symptoms, protecting oneself, and what to do if one suspects infection.

Although restrictions related to COVID-19 have eased, we must continue to exercise caution, as the virus is still present and can result in mild to severe illness, time off work, and missing out on social events.

In addition, contracting COVID-19 can lead to the long-term effects of Long Covid, which can have a significant impact on one’s quality of life.

Coronavirus vaccinations

The COVID-19 spring booster programme runs between 1 April and 30 June.

The spring booster vaccine will be offered to:

  • adults aged 75 and over
  • residents in care homes for older adults, and
  • individuals aged 5 years and over who are immunosuppressed (as defined in the Green Book (gov.uk))

Please wait to receive an invitation in the post.

The universal offer of a primary course and booster vaccination will be coming to an end. If you have not had your first or second primary vaccination dose, you will need to arrange your vaccination before the 30th June.

For those in ‘at risk’ groups the booster offer will reopen during booster campaign periods. If you develop a new health condition that places you ‘at risk’, you can be vaccinated during the next booster campaign period. Vaccination outside these campaign periods would be subject to individual clinical judgement.
