Prescriptions
Our aim is to make the prescription process as easy as possible for all our patients at Fairfield Surgery.
Repeat prescriptions
With each computer prescription issued by the surgery there is a tear off slip. If you wish to order a repeat prescription, please return the slip to the surgery (with a self-addressed-envelope if you wish it to be posted to you). Please ensure you mark the item you wish to order clearly.
Chemists may pick up the prescription on behalf of the patient. In this case, it is the patient’s responsibility to telephone a chemist and request that they pick the prescription up.
Prescriptions will be available for collection after two working days and collected between 09:00 and 18:00 Monday to Friday.
Prescriptions requested on Friday afternoons will not be available until the following Wednesday.
Repeat prescription requests cannot be taken by telephone for safety reasons.
Please take care to order in advance if you have travel/holiday plans or if there is a bank holiday

Things to remember
- If you’re unable to request online, you can visit the surgery to order a repeat prescription
- Don’t leave it till the last minute to order your prescription, allow yourself plenty of time.
- Return the slip to the surgery indicating with a tick, which items you require.
- We work to a 48 hour turnover for prescriptions.
- Prescriptions may only be collected during opening hours (i.e., Monday to Friday).
- Requests made on a Friday will not be ready until the following Wednesday.
Medication reviews
Patients who are on repeat medication will be required to have an annual review of their medications with a doctor, nurse practitioner, or practice nurse. You will receive notification on your repeat slip regarding this requirement.
In some cases you may be asked to complete one of our online forms.
There are certain important checks that need to be performed to ensure your medicines are still doing their job, are not causing any problems and that your condition is monitored.
Failure to book an appropriate appointment may delay further prescriptions.
